The use of a life jacket is mandatory.
It is prohibited to carry out activities that include the use of aerial and aquatic drones or Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), fishing, water skiing, parachute flying, jet skiing, jet skis, kayaks, canoes and rowing inflatables, submersibles, jet engines. propulsion in the whale shark observation area.
It is prohibited to harass or harm the specimens in any way or get in the way of the whale shark’s swimming route.
It is prohibited to consume alcoholic beverages or toxic or psychotropic substances before or during the tour.
Riding on the whale shark specimen is prohibited.
It is prohibited to touch its caudal fin or tail.
Restricting the normal movement of the whale shark is prohibited.
Maintain a minimum distance of 5 m from the head and 6 m from the tail of the whale shark.
Do not feed or make loud noises that alter the natural behavior of the whale shark.
It is prohibited to extract wild flora and fauna, it is a federal crime.
It is prohibited to board the boat with specimens of flora or fauna, native or exotic invasive, including pets.
Only biodegradable tanning products are allowed.
Taking photographs with flash is prohibited.
It is prohibited to use propulsion motors to swim near the whale shark.
The observer or tourist must slide carefully on the boat, avoiding making noise when entering the water.
The use of Self Stick or any extension of cameras is prohibited.
For regulatory reasons, the following Whale Shark prevention and safety measures are applicable for the tourist’s knowledge:
Only one boat is allowed per whale shark and a maximum of 2 swimmers accompanied by a guide and when getting off the boat avoid making noise when entering the water. (Maximum of 2 rounds per swimmer)
When the aggregation is 5 or less whale sharks and the concentration of boats is greater than 5, the activity will be exclusively observation without entering the water.
If there is more than one vessel in the observation area, the service provider must wait for the first one to conclude its activities and leave and begin approaching the whale shark.
By official regulations, there are no outings or visits to the whale shark swimming and watching area on the 30th of each month of the season. The maximum capacity per boat is 10 passengers plus 2 crew members.
